"The number of people sleeping rough due to the lack of suitable housing in Australia is growing at an alarming rate. We need more crisis accommodation to help homeless people get back on their feet." Jason Pater CEO Seeding Hope
The Ranch 2.0
The housing crisis in Australia is continuing to grow, despite ongoing Government and Philanthropic efforts to provide additional housing. And regional areas are under-serviced.
The Mornington Peninsula’s proximity to Melbourne makes it feel metropolitan but unfortunately, very little money makes its way past Frankston for social housing. In fact, the only crisis accommodation on the Peninsula is the Ranch program to temporarily house homeless people previously sleeping rough in their cars or on the foreshore until they can find more permanent accommodation.
Operated as a partnership between Mornington Community Support Centre and Southern Peninsula Community Care, the Ranch is an old Motel graciously provided by a developer for crisis accommodation whilst his development application is pending. At some point soon, that permit will be approved and the Ranch will no longer be available.
With that in mind, Seeding Hope in conjunction with Upotipotpon Foundation have acquired 7 units in Mornington – The Ranch 2.0. It will be leased to Mornington Community Support Centre at a peppercorn rental so that they, in conjunction with Southern Peninsula Community Support, can utilise the 7 apartments to help house people sleeping rough to supplement and ultimately replace the Ranch.

your help:
Renovation:
The apartment building we acquired is well situated close to the Mornington shopping centre (exact location to remain confidential to protect the residents) but it does require some updating. If you are a tradie or supply goods into the building industry and would like to help with donated or discounted goods or labour, please let us know. We are going to need plumbers, electricians and painters. We will need to replace some windows and whitegoods. And the garden could really do with a spruce up if you happen to be in the landscaping business. Every little bit helps.
