We are heading to the Philippines with the Payton Foundation to see first hand the impact of their work and support community outreaches, helping bring food to a remote village in the mountains of Mindoro.

Ruel supports children in crisis in the Philippines with a loving home, access to life changing surgeries and community outreach.

Every day in the Philippines, children are born into circumstances where safety, nourishment, and care are not guaranteed. Poverty, abandonment, and medical crisis can leave the most vulnerable completely alone, unless someone steps in.

Ruel has three Children’s Homes in the Philippines: Calapan City, Romblon and Sorsogon. At each of these homes they accept children in crisis – children who have either been abandoned, abused, neglected, orphaned or severely malnourished.

As part of our Immersion Trip we are focussing our fundraising on their Nourishment centre at Calapan, helping provide life-saving nutrition and specialised healthcare for vulnerable babies and children whose health and future are at risk.

Currently, the centre has the capacity to care for 8 babies at any one time. Our goal is to increase this capacity to 12 babies, allowing more infants to receive the care they desperately need.

For these babies, access to proper nutrition, medical monitoring, and consistent care is truly the difference between life and death.

$375 supports a baby in the nourishment centre for a month
$1,500 per month enables Ruel to increase their capacity to care for an additional 4 babies at a time.

When a baby’s life hangs in the balance, compassion and quick action can mean the difference between despair and hope.

Every day in the Philippines, children are born into circumstances where safety, nourishment, and care are not guaranteed. Poverty and crisis can leave the most vulnerable completely alone—unless someone steps in.

Baby JM’s story is one moment where love intervened.

One night, a couple heard the faint cries of a baby coming from across the street near their home. Following the sound, they discovered a newborn boy lying alone beneath a bridge—abandoned and in urgent need of help.

The baby was immediately brought into the care of RUEL Foundation, where he spent his first days receiving lifesaving medical attention. After fighting through those critical early moments, he was welcomed into one of RUEL’s loving Children’s Homes in Romblon—safe, protected, and deeply cared for.

Today, just two months later, Baby JM is thriving. He is alert and curious, tracking movement with bright eyes, responding to familiar voices, and often greeting those around him with soft coos and smiles. He is surrounded by warmth, consistency, and love—everything every child deserves.

Baby JM’s journey is just one example of the lives RUEL helps restore every day. Children who arrive in crisis are given nourishment, safety, medical care, and the opportunity to grow in a stable, loving environment.

Why are we partnering?

In the Philippines, 31.4% of children live below the poverty line, with 33% stunted due to malnutrition. Alarmingly, 8 in 10 Filipino children experience some form of violence, including physical, psychological, sexual or online abuse. In that context, the Ruel Foundation’s provision of safety, care and hope is a lifeline; offering health, healing, spiritual strength and improved quality of life.

About Ruel Foundation

The Ruel Foundation operates three Children’s Crisis Centres in the Philippines, dedicated to caring for the most impoverished children facing life-threatening situations such as physical abuse, sexual abuse, orphaned or abandoned. Located in Calapan, Romblon and Sorsogon, the Ruel team see many children suffering from serious physical and emotional distress. They work tirelessly to provide health, healing and improved quality of life by offering free surgeries, medical care and education.

The Ruel Foundation also works closely with local authorities to help rescue children that are close to death from starvation or abuse. In many cases they need only provide essential nutrition to help families improve a child’s health. For those in severe situations, the Foundation offers comprehensive residential care until the child is strong enough to return to their family.

When children are accepted into the crisis centre, the team works hard to provide comfort, dignity and spiritual strength to both the child and immediate family. Families share their deep gratitude for giving their children a chance when no one else would.
