Housing Projects

At the Payton Foundation, we recognize the shortage of suitable housing, and we are dedicated to increasing social housing stock and supporting scalable housing solutions.

Housing for young mums, Carrum Downs

With the incredible support of our Giving Partner, Carrum Downs and Marriott Waters Community Bank, who wholly funded this project, we’ve been able to make a profound difference in the lives of young women and mothers who face homelessness. By collaborating to provide the governance and infrastructure needed, we’ve empowered our partners to achieve their goal of creating safe, housing and support for young mothers escaping domestic violence.

Together with Mainline Developments, who sold us a home in Carrum Downs at a significant discount, we’re increasing the housing stock available to provide these young women with a haven and a chance to rebuild.

With this property, we’ve already provided accommodation and support for 5 young mothers, each receiving a pathway to stability, independence, and a brighter future.

But it’s more than just “bricks and mortar.” Fusion recommend tenants and offer vital case management, which extends support beyond housing and helps tenants create a foundation for lasting independence. This shared housing model currently serves two young women (both under 25), giving them 6-18 months of stability, safety, and dignified living as they work toward self-reliance.

Here’s how
it works:

Payton Foundation:

We guarantee the bank loan, handle the financial and operational aspects—bank financing, cash flow management, and regulatory compliance—and manage the agencies. Whilst the asset and the liability sit on the Foundation’s balance sheet, The Foundation commits to always use these funds to meet housing needs in the Carrum Downs and Marriott Waters area.

Carrum Downs and Marriott Waters Community Bank:

As Giving Partners, they provide all funding for property equity and make ongoing contributions toward mortgage repayments.

This model is replicable! Your partnership can help us grow this critical housing initiative. By joining us, you’ll make a lasting impact in transforming lives and providing young mothers with the stability they deserve. Together, we can build more than just houses; we can build futures.

Women’s Housing, MOE

We have partnered with HIA’s Victorian Homeless Fund (VHF) and Sherridan Homes to build a home on our site in Moe, for women and children made homeless by domestic violence.

The VHF model combines donated labour, building materials and philanthropic funds to construct family homes on land supplied by charitable organisations or Government. The VHF partners with community housing providers for 25 years, in this case the Women’s Property Initiative (WPI), who ensure that families not only have shelter but also the security and on-going support needed to thrive. This project will become a home by mid 2025.
