Who is Fusion?
Located in the old Army Barracks in Mt Martha, Fusion provide the only housing service on the Mornington Peninsula dedicated to supporting young people aged 15 to 21 who are experiencing homelessness. During their stay, residents learn essential life skills—such as cooking, budgeting, and time management—that prepare them for independent living. Fusion’s approach goes beyond housing; it actively connects residents to community networks, emphasises the fundamental need for belonging and purpose in every individual.
Fusion also offers outreach services for young people and families at risk of homelessness. This includes support for those in transitional properties and help in maintaining private rental or shared accommodation. Their Family Casework program supports young families under 25 facing or at risk of homelessness.
The flexible Families Course covers essential topics, including Understanding Ages and Stages and Effective Discipline, fostering healthy family relationships. After completing the course, parents can access six weeks of mentoring to further explore the topics and reflect on their parenting styles. Additionally, Fusion Playgroups provide a supportive environment for families to connect and grow together.
In addition, Fusion offers various youth programs and camps designed to foster resilience, self-confidence, and identity while addressing critical social issues like inclusivity, belonging, and support for Aboriginal reconciliation and refugees.
Why are we partnering?
Tonight, over 116,000 Australians are experiencing homelessness. 42% are under the age of 25. Statistics indicate that youth who experience homelessness are significantly more likely to face similar challenges in adulthood.
The team at Fusion ensure young people are housed, supported and empowered to overcome the challenges they face, helping them realise that their experience of homelessness does not define their future.
